A pipe that outlasts the reason you'd dig it up.
Vitrified clay is a genuinely sustainable choice for sewer and wastewater systems — the combination of extreme longevity and a simple, natural raw material sets it apart.
Why clay?
Vitrified clay doesn't age chemically or physically, so it holds its quality for the whole of its service life. Because the pipe contains no pollutants, it doesn't affect the surrounding ecosystem — and low maintenance requirements make it economical over the long term too.
Clay, the natural raw material
Clay is a widely abundant, practically inexhaustible resource built on silicates — the second most abundant component in the earth's crust. Pipes and fittings are made from just three ingredients: clay, chamotte (recycled ceramic material) and water. Every pipe contains at least 30% recycled content that doesn't degrade and carries the same quality guarantee.
Five life‑cycle phases
- 1Raw material extractionClay is extracted from nature.
- 2Product productionVitrified clay pipes and fittings are manufactured.
- 3Construction phasePipes and fittings are installed in the ground.
- 4UtilizationThe system operates for wastewater disposal — for 150+ years.
- 5End‑of‑useSeveral end‑of‑use scenarios are possible, including recycling as chamotte.
Fired once. Rated for the long haul.
Piping systems made of vitrified clay easily fulfil the extremely high demands and the broad spectrum of properties required for economically efficient and sustainable operation — and over periods well exceeding one hundred fifty years to boot. The properties of the material, the joints, and the individual components are exceptional.
